Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan doesn't blame anyone for missing Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches during the tournament's inaugural seasons.
Rizwan, who led his team to the title in 2021, shared these thoughts ahead of PSL 8, which begins on February 13 in Multan.
It is to be noted that Rizwan played for Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings before joining Multan but did not get many opportunities to showcase his talent.
“I missed a few games at the start of the PSL but I won't blame anyone. It's all part of the game because every side has its own strategy and game plan, but now I'm putting emphasis on every match I play to make up for lost time,” Rizwan told the PCB Podcast on Tuesday.
"Captainship and batting can be challenging but we have a good group of people who have not only strengthened me but also supported and encouraged me to find the right balance and continue to give my best," he added.
He also opened up the challenge of facing some of Pakistan's best bowlers in the PSL.
"It's always challenging to face Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali. And that's not just me but all the batsmen because they are really fast and effective bowlers with a lot of variety. But it works both ways because we know each other's strengths and weaknesses. That means they have a slight advantage because they have more opportunities to come back and dismiss batsmen, but they are difficult bowlers for all batsmen around the world," he said.
The PSL 8 opening ceremony will be held in Multan on February 13 before the tournament kicks off between 2021 winners Multan Sultans and defending champions Lahore Qalandars; meanwhile, the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host the play-offs.
Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first side to win back-to-back titles; meanwhile, Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful team by lifting the trophy three times.
Rawalpindi will play 11 matches, Karachi and Lahore will host nine matches each while Multan will have five home matches.
